Prayer Services 5 Times A Day

We conduct 5 daily prayer services 7 days a week. Additionally, the Mosque holds the Friday prayers. The timing for each prayer is posted on the top right corner of every page of this website. Our Mosque is available for worshippers to come and perform the sacred and beautiful act of worship in congregation.

A Muslim prays five times a day, not only on Fridays. He can pray in congregation or individually, not only in the mosque but anywhere, in the home or at the workplace, in the field or even in the desert – so long as the place is clean and does not pose any form of interference (noise or smell) to his concentration. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “The whole earth is a mosque.” However a mosque building is preferred because Islam wants Muslims to get together in a congregation in order to know one another better and build up rapport. Congregational prayers foster and enhance Islamic brotherhood.

The importance of congregational prayers was expressed by the Prophet thus: “It is good to do your prayers in the mosque. If you are within the hearing distance of the azan (prayer call) from the mosque, go to the mosque; but, if by performing the prayer at home (other than the Friday midday prayers) your family members can join in together with you, then do the prayer at home.”

Juma Prayers

“Believers, when the call for Prayer is made on Friday, hasten to the remembrance of Allah and give up all trading. That is better for you, if you only knew. ” (Surah 62:9)

Many community members clearly make an effort to dress up for this jumu’a, which is very nice to see. The sermons are always delivered in Luganda normally between 30-40 minutes long and begin at 12.50pm. It is a good idea to get to this masjid early if you want to be able to pray inside the prayer room itself, and not get stuck outside.

A free halal lunch is served at the masjid every Friday.

Taraweh & Eid Prayers

During Ramadhan, the mosque avails huffaz who have not only fully memorised the quran but have a deeper understanding of it too, to lead the Taraweh prayers in which the whole quran is recited. These begin immediately after 'Isha prayer

The Mosque provides annual celebrations commemorating the two Eids (Eid ul-Adha and Eid ul-Fitr). The celebration begins with the Eid prayer held at 8.00am followed by the sermon, and concludes with a free halal meal for every one served at the masjid with soft drinks.
